John Mwendwa’s Orphan Story
John Mwendwa is the newest student to be absorbed in our orphans’ and vulnerable children program. He is currently at St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School. He dropped out of school because of lack of fees. He started hawking and it is during his day-to-day hawking business that Madam Dianah Kamande spotted him because she thought he was too young to be a hawker.
To initiate a conversation Madam Dianah Kamande bought some dashboard sprays from him after which he explained to her that he dropped out of school in Form 2 due to a huge fee balance, and the school could no longer sustain him. He could also not take it anymore since being sent away became a norm to him. He explained to Madam Dianah Kamande that he lost his mother at a very tender age and was left with his father.

After, Madam Dianah requested his father to have a sit down with her and agreed on how he can go back to school. It is then that he was incorporated in the CTWOO’S orphans’ and vulnerable children program. He agreed to go back to Form 1 and was admitted in St. Charles Lwanga High School on February 3 2022. This was made possible by the help of Certified Homes Limited who agreed to sponsor his education.
