Widows Awareness Seminar On 17-18 December 2021 in Samburu County

Cometogether Widows and orphans Organization (CTWOO), widows program seek to empower widows through Economic empowerment and Legal and Right education. We partner with various organizations for example Global Fund for widows through the Table banking project where widows’ economic empowerment activity is boosted.

Uptake of government funds set aside for women, where we team up with ministry of Public Service and Gender Affairs to expose widows to the funds which include the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) and UWEZO fund.

This helps us to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals SDG 1: No poverty and SDG 2: Zero Hunger because widows are now Economically independent.

On matter Legal CTWOO  team’s up with partners who have legal expertise like FIDA Kenya, Commission of Administrative Justice (CAJ) and Law Society of Kenya whereby we offer paralegal trainings to our widows. Through this we are able to achieve Sustainable Development Goals SDG 5, Gender Equality and SDG 10, Reduced inequalities. This also enables widows to represent themselves in courts and fight for their rights.

Therefore its against this backdrop that CTWOO will be conducting a widows awareness seminars in Samburu County on the 17th December 2021 at Catholic Church Grounds Longewan in Suguta Zone, Lorroki Division, Samburu Central Sub County and on 18th December 2021 Ngari Primary school grounds in Maralal zone, Kirisia Division, Samburu Central subcounty.

The widow’s awareness seminar will focus on the following areas:

  1. Gender Based Violence that widows go through, how to respond and prevent them.
  2. Legal awareness where the widows will be Enlighted about their rights.
  3. Administrative justice,
  4. Awareness creation on economic empowerment where the widows will be taught about the government affirmative funds and Psycho social support
