When the pandemic was declared to reached Kenya, the Government of Kenya undertook stringent measures that involved curfews and travel restrictions. As at 16th of December 2020, most of the reported Covid 19 associated death were men. Covid 19 become a widow’s making machine. May businesses (Both formal and informal) were closed and jobs were lost. Many widows could no longer feed their families because their sources of income were cut short. They could not afford to purchase protective masks. Consequently, we were inclined to rely on our partners for the survival of our widows.

FLOODS

In response to the devastating impact of floods, we focused on supporting widows, particularly those in slums, by providing food, clothing, and beddings, facilitating relocation, supplying learning materials for their children, and renovating homes damaged by the heavy rains to help them rebuild their lives with dignity and stability.

DROUGHT

Amid the severe drought affecting Kenya’s ASAL region, we extended targeted support to widows by delivering food relief, ensuring access to water, distributing drought-resistant goats, and supplying dignity kits to strengthen their resilience and safeguard their households.
