Come Together Widows and Orphans Organization is dedicated to Advancing Gender Equality and Ensuring Widows in Kenya an have Equitable Access to Resources, Opportunities and that they don’t loose their Dignity and they fully enjoy their Human Rights.

CTWOO Champions for the protection of Human Rights and Uphold the Dignity of Widows, in alighnment with international standards including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the Convention on the Rights of The Child.

CTWOO believes that widows and their children are integral members of the family, despite the community and society often attempting to marginalize them after the loss of a husband and father to their children. Therefore, CTWOO places a strong focus on equipping widows, their children, and members of the community with knowledge about Family Law to ensure they are not subjected to discrimination rooted in harmful cultural practices.

The Widowed Persons Protection Bill, 2026 is a landmark legislative proposal that seeks to protect widowed persons from discrimination, dispossession, violence and harmful cultural practices while promoting their dignity, security and access to justice. The Bill establishes a comprehensive legal framework that recognizes widowhood as a unique social and legal status requiring specific protection and support.

Fanikisha Mjane Project

Cassava Farming in Kilifi

The project focuses on climate-smart agriculture, specifically cassava farming. It provides field training and demonstrations to help widows turn farming into a sustainable source of income.

Hon. Otiende Amollo is sponsoring The Widowed Persons Protection Bill, 2026.

The Widowed Persons Protection Bill, 2026 was tabled in the National Assembly on 12 May 2026 as a Private Member’s Bill.

Hon. Amollo’s commitment to this cause is deeply personal , it is informed by the discrimination his own mother faced after being widowed.

If passed, it will be Africa’s first standalone law dedicated specifically to protecting widowed persons.
